Muskoka. The very word conjures up images of skies and forests and waterways, small towns and tucked away cottages. Muskoka is a place of natural beauty, evoking dappled sunlit lanes and gentle breezes, and memories of family gatherings, quiet-filled hikes, lake paddles. Muskoka restores one’s soul.

I love to paint. Watercolour painting has captured me. With its unique “swirl” and mixing of transparent colours, as well as its contrasts between lights and darks, I am drawn to paint the unique landscape of this beautiful Muskoka, with its rocks and trees, lakes and time-worn buildings. I try to capture Muskoka in my paintings, and my studio is located near Dwight, Ontario.

Dòigh Nàdair (doe na dare) is the name I’ve chosen for my studio. It is a Celtic phrase meaning “the Way of Nature”, pointing to the deeply relaxing and mindful connections we enjoy with this part of our world. My paintings, I hope, will evoke a memory, a moment … your journey and story … as it has and continues to interact with this natural corner of our world. Muskoka.
